Bladex Strengthens Its Board of Directors with Two New Appointments

 

Bladex announces the appointment of Julianne Canavaggio and Juan Alberto Pazo to its Board of Directors, representing Class “E” and Class “A” shareholders, respectively. These appointments further strengthen the diversity of experience, expertise, and capabilities of the Bank’s highest governing body.

 

Julianne Canavaggio brings extensive experience in executive leadership, investment strategy, corporate governance, and risk management.

 

She currently serves as an independent director of Copa Holdings (NYSE: CPA), where she chairs the Audit Committee. She also serves as a director of Telecable S.A. (Costa Rica) and Telca S.A. (Panama), where she chairs both the Audit and Talent Committees, and is a board member of an international financial services group, where she chairs the Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee and serves on the Audit Committee. Her board experience spans public, regulated, and privately held companies across multiple jurisdictions.

 

In the corporate sector, she serves as Managing Director of Grupo Cuestamoras, a diversified investment and asset management platform in Central America, where she leads initiatives related to long-term strategy, capital allocation, performance oversight, and risk management across companies in various industries.

 

Previously, she held leadership positions at Lazard (NYSE: LAZ), including CEO for Latin America and Chief of Staff to the Global CEO of Financial Advisory. She began her career as a corporate and capital markets attorney, advising financial institutions and corporations on complex international transactions.

 

At Bladex, Julianne Canavaggio will serve on the Audit Committee and the Risk Policy and Assessment Committee, contributing her expertise in strategy, corporate governance, risk analysis, and investment management.

 

Juan Alberto Pazo, in turn, brings extensive experience in legal, regulatory, corporate, and business matters. He is an attorney with experience at law firms in Argentina and abroad and has held senior public-sector positions, including Executive Director of the Customs Revenue and Control Agency (2024–2025), National Production Coordinating Secretary (2023–2024), and Superintendent of Insurance of Argentina (2017–2019).

 

Since 2007, he has served as a director of companies across various industries, including agribusiness, media, and retail, providing strategic insight based on corporate governance, business management, and market expertise.

 

At Bladex, Juan Alberto Pazo will serve on the Audit Committee and the Nomination, Compensation and Operations Committee, contributing his experience in legal and regulatory affairs, corporate oversight, and strategic decision-making.
